Good day. My name is T.C. Bothma and I own a new 2017 Fortuner 2.8 4x4 automatic.

I see a lot of discussion on the internet regarding screen mirroring your cellphone with the factory radio. Mirrorlink and the Entune app does not work on my Iphone7 so I did a lot of surfing the internet and came up with the following :

There seems to be 2 ways of doing this 1) via cable and 2) via wifi. With regards to the cable connect, I'm awaiting the last part - a HDMI2AV converter that I ordered from takealot and with regards to the wifi connection, I'm waiting for the Mirabox car wifi that I ordered from Aliexpress.

It seems in both instances I will be making use of the "auxiliary" input of the radio.

I ordered the cable connection first:

1) Lightning digital AV adapter (connect to your IPhone)

2) HDMI cable

3) HDMI2AV box

4)3x RCA to stereo (and male connectors in between) this then connects to the auxiliary of the radio

If everything is connected up correctly, you then change the source of the radio to auxiliary and voilĂ .

I also ordered a lightning extension because the wire on the first item is a bit short.

After I ordered the above, I realized that the Mirabox will do the same wireless and will be less expensive, so I ordered it:

As soon as the parts arrive, I will hook it up and report back to everyone.

Anyone interested in the above or done the cable or mirabox connection in their vehicles?

The wired option is working, but bulky.

Has your Mirabox worked?

I also have a 2017 Tuna and have been seriously disappointed with the infotainment system.
There are serious connection issues with Apple and Vodacom.

I also recently came across the Mirabox but am unable to find any decent information with regard to it working in RSA. Reviews on Amazon are seriously mixed and split between 1 or 5 star.

Once Mirabox is installed, can the information be manipulated from either side (phone or radio)?

Hi, the Mirabox is still on its way, I also did a wired installation and you can only manipulate the phone - like when you watch a DVD - the tv is there to give picture/video and sound, but you manipulate the dvd player (in our case the cellphone).

I also replaced the front and rear speakers with JBL speaker R400 per pair at Makro - huge difference!!!! Also ordered unserseat JBL 8" subwoofer from takealot for R2550 (will report when installed)

I can't believe Toyota installs 20 watt speakers!!!

For a R600000.00 plus vehicle, one would expect a serious soundsystem that can connect to your phone and you are able to use.

I'm interested in your JBL swop. Is it a straight forward remove and replace or some mods need to be done. Also the where would you add and fit the subwoofer

Hi, I only took out the 20 watt speakers (replaced the connectors) and installed the JBL speakers without mods.

The subwoofer goes under the passenger seat (the wiring took a bit of time).

I'm still looking for JBL tweeters that will fit.
