New SUV Fan and User

Good day all.

I've recently (October 2018) had to purchase a bigger vehicle as we had triplets join our family a few months earlier.

I was set on a Chrysler Voyager and my wife was set on a Fortuner. I always chose all our vehicles so giving in to my wife was not easy. So in October 2018 we purchased a 2014 Toyota Fortuner 2.5 D4-D. A few months later and having been driving it on the regular, I must say I thoroughly do enjoy and love this vehicle. It actually does something for the ego :)

So yeah I'm new to the club and hoping to get some useful and insightful help and tips.

Nice to meet y'all and be part of the club...

Thanks for having me

Hello everyone,

My name is Philip and I recently aquired a 2005 Fortuner 1kd-Ftv. Doin 290,000km, have spent a considerable amount of time and effort restoring it as previous owner or mechanic was a bit of a waste in terms of mantinance and repair, the drag shaft was on backwards turbo actuator on backwards bolts missing from turbo manifold over tightened cam cover causing cracks and oil everywhere, injector two had major blow by and high leakbavk value. It was driving like total rubish when bought but I have got it back to a point of enjoyable driving. I have a few things to tidy up. Like getting working key fob and maybe replacing all injectors. But weighing my options. Mods so far, Erg blocked at engine but routed to its own filter from intake that way it can suck and dump as it likes. Thinking about adding a catch can as I believe the oil in the intercooler seems excessive to me. Here to learn and help where I can. If anyone has any advice for me please feel free to help out. I’m currently dropping the diesel tank to clean it as I see particulate when I siphon from bottom of fuel filter. Any advice would be appreciated.
