Ek wil my vet 6 se cat ook uithaal. Weet julle of die petrol 'n lamda sensor het? Hy het nou 120 000km op die klok en ek dink die cat moet nou gaan.

Removing the CAT on the D4D is easily done, there are no lambda sensors so it's a simple cut and weld in a straight piece of pipe, I would not knock the insides out and re-install it, it causes turbulence in the exhaust.

I cut out my D4D's CAT and immediately could feel the turbo spool up faster. I would highly recommend it if you're out of warranty.

I've since installed a De Graaf 76mm turbo back free flow and fitted a unichip, very nice upgrade, especially for towing. I have also modified the exhaust that I can remove the silencer and run straight pipe or refit the silencer as SWAMBO doesn't like the sound. Makes zero performance difference too me, but sounds lekker.

On the V6 there are 3 or 4 CATS, 1 in each branch and then 1 or 2 more in the actual exhaust, of you remove these you will get an error/engine light, you need to fit mini CATS to the lambda sensors to fool them I to thinking the CATS are still there, about R850ea. Best on the V6 is to fit a full free flow, petrol engines love to breathe.
