Blinking dash lights.

Good day folks, I'm having a strange occurrence with my dash lights. Every time I turn my lights on the dash lights "blink" between normal and super bright a few times and then settle down. I checked with my son and he says he's had the same thing happen to him. It doesn't appear to be a serious problem but it's a little irritating. Has anyone else experienced this and did you find out what caused it?

Take that dash dim and bright switch and turn it left and right a couple of times (fast)
and the contacts inside will clear, if it is dust. You can also try blow it clean with air.

Werner and Jakes you seem to have pointed me right. I can't call you Oom Jakes because I'm older than you but you Sir are wise beyond your years. I jiggled the switch as directed and voila it seems to have fixed the problem.

Hell I miss my Defender! This Fortuner does not give me a chance to fiddle. My set of brake replacements have been lying in my office for ages and it is still not time for a replacement! I am getting bored washing it and just doing the services. 141 000 trouble free except of course, spiral cable, remote access box and front discs. How must I learn when things do not go wrong?

He gets my vote. Over the years I have prowled a lot of forums and joined a few that offered the prospect of assistance with the various vehicles I've owned. Even joined Jeep forum when I was considering buying a Grand Cherokee. (I know, I know :pillepalle: ) Without a doubt this forum is the most enjoyable, friendly, informative and helpful forum bar none. The members are an eclectic mix with a single point of focus, the Fortuner. Yes there are disagreements and "arguments" even sarcasm, but none that I have seen is malicious or intended to hurt or belittle the poster. In my humble opinion this is what a forum should be and the others (not going to get specific here) could take a lesson or two. You all have a great day.
