Prof Tim Noakes

We had our annual Clinical Engineering breakfast this morning and the speaker were Prof Tim Noakes. Very interesting talk he gave on why we are so fat. In short he reckons it is all the carbs we eat. Stay far away from this. he reckons a low carb high vat diet is the way to go. Eat your proteins and a lot of it.
So I took his advise and stopped at the butcher and got a huge piece of biltong with extra fat on it, njum njum njum, I love my new diet

Ok but serious, has any one of you heard about this diet? Does it really work? I love my carbs, but does carbs really do nothing for you besides to make you fat. Car we really just live on meat and proteins

Hi Cois,

So funny you mentioned this. I just had my Girlfriend confront me that this was going to be her new diet/lifestyle at home. She had just bought the book and she wanted to know if I was going to try it with her. :hmm: I must give her credit as she has done a lot of research, scientific as well and has spoken to friends who have tried it and they all say it works. They say it is not really a diet but more a lifestyle change. My only concern is that I love my potatoes to much but I think I am going to give it go, well either that or I start cooking all my own food from now on ..... I think I will be trying the new lifestyle.

I have seen friends who have lost a huge amount of weight and also look really good after a few weeks of doing this but you have to be disciplined.

Give it a go, scientifically it seems to also have merit!

I heard about this low carb, high protein approach about 6 weeks ago and decided to give it a go. I've lost 7kgs without too much hassles. Not having the potatoes, etc is a bit of a drag but the fact that there's no limit on your meat intake is awesome......might have to go and have my cholesterol checked soon thought! :hmm: ;)

But I recon we must all put down a target weight as well as see who gets the closest!
