Fortuner 3.0 D4D or 2.4 GDS auto?

I am presently an owner of a Amarok 132kw auto, lovely vehicle. Just concerned about the future costs of keeping it on the road. At 4500 kms I had to replace discs pads, discs, drums and shoes @ R4500. I believe the camshaft will cost R11500. My mileage is 52500 km 2015 model. I used to have a Prado 4.0 VX which was a fantastic vehicle but too thirsty for my pensioners budget. I am wanting to change to a Fortuner, but with budget constraints of R400000, possibly stretch to R425000, depending what I get for my A marok.
My question is which one to go for:
1. 2.8 GDS auto 4x2
2. 2.4 GDS auto 4 x 4 preferably
3. 3.0 D4D auto 4 x 4
I tow a caravan which weighs 1019 kg unloaded, so, towing comfort is a must.
I am leaning towards the 2.4 GDS 2016 auto but i am not sure about the power for towing. It must be an auto, manuals not for me. I would appreciate feedback.. I am new to the forum, just joined a few minutes ago.
Many thanks in advance.
