H P - Jay I am personally also looking into doing an upgrade. I have not heard of Tough Dog but I am also just starting out with the research. I have found some guys in the Cape that specialize in upgrades to vehicles such as the Fortuners. The two upgrades am I looking at are the Koni shocks or the Mikem setup. I guess it all depends on what you are looking for and what type of driving you are going to do be doing. In my case I would like to get slight raise 30mm and have something that gives the car a soft ride when not loaded and hardens when you start to add all the goodies for a trip. ( progression springs ). Where are you based?

I'm looking at more or less the same. Trust me, i have looked at everything. The Billstein "Mikem upgrade" comes highly recommended but after having seen the reviews of the Tough Dog in Australia i would like to hear from someone who has fitted them. I am based in Gauteng.

Sorry PJ, not an answer to your question but just a comment on the MiKem suspension guys:

I had their kit installed on my 96 Hilux and found it to be superb. The service I received from Darryl was fantastic! I know that just after the Fortuner was launched and they fell over like it was going out of fashion the MiKem guys embarked on a huge process and ended up designing new coils for the Tuna. There was an article in the SA 4x4 about it too.

Contact Darry on 082six5six44seven4 for more info.
