Does it feel normal above 3000rpm or stronger?

I had a Isuzu 3.2 once in my workshop.... very long ago, where they changed the cambelt and got the teeth mixed up... quad cam... 4 cams... and had very similar results. Though I am not sure if its possible with the Hilux. Best would be to get the Hilux on a dyno and see what is happening with the timing and fuel supply... to see where to start looking. I know the guys at SAC Centurion are good with fault finding.... dont event try the dealers... they can only plug the computer in and if there is nothing diagnostic faults... they will just give the vehicle back and say no faults found...

4lV6 sluggish and at around 3000rpm puls like a rocket.

When we did the timing we did according to the manual
and when we did the diagnostics they checked the cam and crank timing to make sure the timing is correct.
I suppose dynamo would be the best way go but I live in Vryheid now so don't think there is a dyno close by.

Could it be possible that the fuel pump is faulty.
How do I test the fuel pump?

Low fuel pressure is normally the other way around and not able to supply sufficient fuel pressure at high rpm's where it is needed. Or fuel pumps become problematic when the vehicle is hot but fine when cold
