Full maintenance service

Hi, I am a bit confused. I have a Fortuner 2016 2.8 GD 6 Auto. I took it for its 70,000 km service. After the service I was notified that my rear brakes only has 2mm left and need replacing soon. They quoted me R1700.00 for this. I was a bit shocked, so I never got to query my question. Are brakes, oil, filters, wiper blades not covered?
Many thanks.

As far as I know, wear parts like brakes are not covered.
Oil and filters should be.

Toyota has a service plan, only covering service items, Maintenance plan will cover everything.

Hi JPC, I have both service and maintenance plan. Service plan valid up to 90,000km Maintenance plan 100,000 km. Hence my concern.

Hi Jlo, I've never heard of one having a service plan and maintenance plan, unless your maintenance plan is with a different company. You have the option (i think) to up your service plan to a maintenance plan at Toyota, but you won't have both as the maintenance plan overrides the service plan in terms of what is covered.

Could it not be that you are thinking of your warranty that runs till 100 000km, in which case that will definitely not cover ANY service related costs. ?(

Should I buy a new car now, I would definitely upgrade to a maintenance plan from the word go, that plan even covers wiper blades..

Thanks. I'm going to look into the extended maintenance plan, when the time comes, this i think kicks in at 100000km. My concern is it value for money if you only average plus minus 10 - 12000 km per year. My vehicle is a 2016 GD 6 auto on 72000km. The previous owner did high mileage. I bought it at 58000 km.
Any advice will be appreciated.

first get a price to extend - make sure it is a FULL maintenance plan and not a service plan. I cannot think that this will be a cheap plan either. once you have a price, it will be easier to make the decision on whether it is worth it or not to extend the plan.
