Hello al die manne

Ek het na drie weke se gesukkel met my nuwe (ou) FT wat steeds in limp mode ingaan na die tweede turbo vervang is, derde step motor vervang is, dash afgehaal is om elke draadjie te check, injectors gecheck is, computer gekoppel is om alle sensors te monitor, cat uitgesny is en my turbo soos 'n stoomtrein gefluit het as hy net ge-idle het (900-1000 revs) keelvol geraak en na my naaste Toyota Dealer gery. Imperial Toyota Cape Gate het my soos familie ontvang ( weet nog nie of dit goed of sleg is nie, hang seker af hoe jy oor jou familie voel?) en hulle het my FT dieselfde dag nog ingeneem
. Na omtrent 3 ure se diagnostics, het hulle my in kennis gestel dat my 'nuwe/recon' turbo gaar is, daarom raas/fluit hy so.

I had this problem on my Fortuner. Above 3000RPM or when towing the trailer it would go into limp mode. After numerous check and phone calls to Toyota with no help. A local mechanic found it to be the "mass airflow sensor" which is situated on top of the air cleaner housing. He said this seemed to be common on the D4D engines specially around here as we have a lot of farmers travelling dusty roads. This sensor gets contaminated ( fancy word for dirty) and tells the computer that the vehicle is not getting enough air to the engine so shuts it down. I take the sensor out every so often and clean it very carefully with something like carb cleaner with an ear bud or acetone, the stuff you missus uses to clean the nail polish off. Just be very careful because if you break the little glass sensor you will be in for close to R2000.00!!!! We do live along a dusty road but i change my airfilter every 7500-10000km anyway and this sensor still gets dusty. I hope this helps.

Good news, dealers / agents are more expensive but generally know what to do once off.

Enjoy the vehicle further.
