Fuel gauge and fuel light not registering low fuel??

Hi Guys

My cousin has a 2014 2x4 3.0D4D Fortuner. The other day she broke down and the problem was she ran out of fuel. Both the light and the fuel gauge didn't register low fuel. Her Mechanic said this is a common thing on Fortuners???? I have never heard about this problem? I asked her if she zero's the odo when she fills up, which she does. The mechanic says that wont help as it wont register the km's correctly until she repairs the cluster.

Has any one had or heard about this problem.

I also have a 2014 4x4 3.0 D4D

Regards
Ross

Thanks guys.

That's a bugger! How does replacing the cluster solve the problem in the long run? Has Toyota improved the electronics in the new clusters?

I had the exact same issue. Had it repaired in about 10 minutes. cost me R1500 cash, never had a problem ever since. Toyota will tell you it cant be fixed and the only option is replacement, BULL :shit:
