Fortuner Park Distance Control DIY

Hi All

SWAMBO had one request when I bought the Fortuner.... Reverse PDC. So I documented the process in case anyone else wants to do this.

1. PDC kit. I ordered it from BidorBuy - Cost R400

2. Before:

3. My measurements. You could do your own measurements, just keep it in the specification provided in the manual

4. I made small pilot holes using a drill bit and elbow grease:

5. The drill bit is included in PDC packaging:

6. One times drilled hole:

7. All holes drilled:

8. Lifted mat in loading area:

9. I removed this grommet to feed the wires up into the loading area:

10. Sensors installed:

11. View of wires behind the bumper, I still need to get conduit for the wires:

12. Wires fed through grommet. I cut a slit into the side of the grommet:

13. Fed wires underneath the plastic interior at the left C-Pillar

14. Refitted mat and started hooking up to the controller:

15. View of controller with wires connected (all but power):

16. This was the interesting bit. I had to remove the baggage hook(Philips Screwdriver), safety belt(14mm bolt) and Tupperware from the C-Pillar to gain access to the Fortuner's reverse and earth wires. I spliced them and attached the power from the PDC to them (Black to black, Red/White to Red):

PDC Tested - Reversed the Fortuner with my other car behind it :S

The whole install took about 2 hours. Hopefully this will help you guys do it a lot quicker.

Nice job, well done.
It's real things, things like this, that give a forum value.

Did you buy them colour coded, or did you spray them yourself ?
