Team offroad training

Herewith my report of the events at this past weekend with Team offroad.
As most off you know I bought a new Fortuner lately and found myself with the shortage off 4x4 off-roading skills and experience. The first thing that one wants to do is race into the mountains and do the off roading thing. I have watched videos of guy's getting it horribly wrong on trials and tracks, not having the basic skills to perform the right task for the job at hand and ending up damaging their expensive cars and causing injury. This brought me to the conclusion that I NEEDED TRAINING!!! I turned to Google and found the guy's from Team offroad and booked a training session with Thys de Jager and Anton Ferreira. Level 1 Basic accredited off-road vehicle operator.

Saturday's session consisted of theory and I might add every single basic thing there is to learn for off-road venturing was covered. We were 6 guy's with the two facilitators. Now one might think that theory is the most boring thing and that you just want to get it over and done with, but let me tell you, I was wired right through that presentation. It was so much fun with Thys cracking jokes every now and then, laughter, just an all round good vibe with a bunch of good okes in the class room making it a breeze through the theory session.

Now Sunday was the day we were all waiting for, the practical session. This was done at Legacy parks, Wiesenhof. What a beautiful venue and day this was. It started off with vehicle recovery basics. This was for me the most informative part of the whole course. Here I could relate to those videos off guy's getting it wrong and why. Simply skipping the basics in these vehicle recovery situations will have the most disastrous effects.

Now the action began. We were really put through our paces on the track but with professional guidance. I felt confidence growing right through the track with Thys and Anton giving advice and knowledge. That Fortuner and I did things I did not know was possible :golly: We ran the track twice which just built that confidence levels even more.

This was the best decision to partake of this course. It was presented very professionally and with much enthusiasm. These guy's at Team offroad have a passion and dedication to teach others the right stuff. I would recommend it to any one out there who has the desire but not the confidence to go do offroading. Even those who need extra skills or just a refresher, this is the one for you. Bang for the buck

Dankie manne :hail: :hail: :hail:

For those who were wondering, this course is fully accredited and presented by qaulified facilitators/accessors in accordance with TETA standards and is a
national accepted Unit Standard 254135.tionally accepted Unit Standard 254135.

:whistling:

Thanks for the kind words Jaques. It was great to meet you and we are looking forward to having a lot of fun together in the future.

Just a correction, the price is R1750 and not R1500 as Jaques mentioned.

Veiligheid is van kardinale belang as mens daar buite rond ry. Hoe meer ervaring en opleiding, hoe beter.
