So many amazing places , so many awesome people, some fantastic days and some long hard days - all adds up to the adventure of a lifetime.
Leaving Cape Town on June 8 2015 in our 2006 Fortuner, Robyn (my wife) and I decided to do a fast drive to get to the Zambia border at Kazangula as we had spent time in Botswana last year. http://www.fortuner4x4fans.co.za/forum/board44-4x4-trails-and-overland-trips/board66-trip-reports/1343-cape-town-richtersveldt-namibia-south-namibia-caprivi-botswana-ct-6-weeks/
Hard drive to Vryberg (12 hrs) where we overnight and off to Ramatlabama border post in the morning. Efficient border but wanted our old TIP - did not realize that Botswana issue a TIP for 12 months. Overnight at Woodlands about 15km outside Francistown on Nata road. Road works before Francistown slowed us down considerably.
Woodlands is a great camping spot and after a good night and lots of bird sounds in the morning we headed off to Senyathi camp about 10 km from Kazangula border post. Synathi was busy advise advance booking. With their own water hole and viewing deck/bar we spent 2 magic nights recovering from the drive and watched 100 odd elephants and 100 plus buffalo come to drink each day. Senyathi have an underground bunker which allows you to watch the water hole from ground level with the odd elephant trunk a few cm's from you. First night had a elephant bump the roof top tent as he pulled leaves off the tree we were camped next to. Great start to the trip.
Next report in Zambia section.
